Mario Loyola is a public policy professional with more than 15 years experience in government and at public policy institutes. He was most recently associate director for regulatory reform at the White House Council on Environmental Quality, where he helped lead the effort to reform the process for federal permits and environmental impact assessments for major infrastructure projects, and also served as White House speechwriter. Loyola has also served at the Pentagon as a special assistant to the undersecretary of defense for policy, and has held several senior positions in the U.S. Senate. As a fellow at leading policy institutes, he has published extensively on a wide range of foreign and domestic policy issues. He is currently a Senior Fellow at the Competitive Enterprise Institute. He is a graduate of Washington University School of Law, and the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
